In addition to the normal GPS functions such as position location, direction, compass, distance, speed, map, clock; EasyBoating allows you to view and reach a wide variety of points of interest (POI) already memorized, automatically calculating the bearing and distance relative to your actual position.
EasyBoating has an important security feature: the minimum distance to keep from the coast is shown on the screen (300m), if this limit is accidentally exceeded a “warning” appears on the center of the screen, swimmers and propellers should no longer be in danger! A visual alarm will also appear when speed limits are exceeded in canals and port areas. Dangerous areas and shallow rocks are also highlighted.

A few curiosities
Lake Garda is the biggest lake in Italy and is situated in a natural depression formed around 4 million years ago. In the North, where it takes on a narrow and elongated form, we meet valleys, deep waters and mountains over 2000m high. In the South, the lake has a semi-circular form of the foothills, with the peninsula of Sirmione in the centre: here you can enjoy the soft, green landscape of the Morenic hills, further sweetened by the presence of antique vines that produce the famous Lugana wine.
The lake is known by two names, Garda and Benaco - the least used but oldest of the two. Benacus was the name given by the Romans, when they ruled this area in the first century B.C.. It is thought that the name comes from the Celtic word Bennacus, ‘horned’, referring to the numerous promontories along its banks.
Although the lake has always had a mild climate, it has frozen over entirely three times in the last 2000 years: the first time was after the fall of the Roman Empire, then in the winter of 1547-1548 and finally in the freezing cold January of 1709.
Lake Garda has a control system of the water level that controls its tributaries and also its emissary through a series of dams located on the Sarca, Ponale, Valvestino and Mincio rivers. The seasonal variation in water level is about a metre. In the case of emergency or risks of flooding, the lake receives water from the river Adige through a tunnel which serves as an overspill. This tunnel has been rarely used, the last time was the winter of 2018 when it saved Verona from the risk of flooding.
The shortest river in the world flows into Lake Garda. The Aril or Ri, is 175m long and is located in the town of Malcesine, at Cassone. The whole river is visible along the main road that follows the Eastern Garda shore. The source of the river can be found in the artificial lake situated above the road, and below the road the river flows towards the lake.

Main towns
Peschiera del Garda - A small jewel on the lake’s shore, home of one of Lepanto Marine’s Rent Points: Peschiera del Garda is situated in the southernmost point of the lake, where it flows into the Mincio. This small jewel, cradled by blue waters and green hills, over the centuries it has been evoked by many writers and poets, amongst whom Dante Aligheri, who didn’t fail to capture the unusual structure of the fortified city with the words “beautiful and strong instrument”.
Desenzano del Garda - A lively, dynamic town, rich with events and initiatives: Desenzano boasts a historic town centre designed in the 1500’s by architect Todeschini, where streets criss-cross buzzing with life and colour. An ideal destination for those who wish to spend a holiday in search of relaxation, fun, nature and culture. Also here you can find a Lepanto Marine Rent Point.
The gulf of Garda - The gulf of Garda is a natural jewel surrounded by Mount Luppia and the Rocca hill, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view. At this point, in the Middle Ages, stood the Garda Castle, which was so influential that the lake changed its name from Benacus to the actual Lake Garda.
Remember: GPS is a very useful tool, essential for navigation, but it should never substitute common sense, prudence, and compliance with current regulations. Always ensure that your chosen route does not cross the mainland or dangerous waters.
